The Royal Institution brings the public and scientists together to explore and enjoy science. From our historic home on Albemarle Street, the Ri offers a year-round programme of public talks, Friday Evening Discourses, family events and the world-famous CHRISTMAS LECTURES, alongside education programmes that bring hands-on science workshops to schools across the UK.
For more than 200 years, the Ri has championed scientific discovery and public engagement. Our remarkable heritage includes Humphry Davy, who discovered potassium and sodium, and Michael Faraday, whose work transformed our understanding of electricity and magnetism. Today, the Ri continues to connect audiences with leading scientists, thinkers and communicators, from Hannah Fry and Carlo Rovelli to Dame Sue Black and Sean Carroll.
As an independent charity that receives no public funding, the Ri relies on membership subscriptions, sponsorship and donations from foundations, individuals and businesses, and income from venue hire of our Grade I listed home. By partnering with the Ri you will help us continue sparking curiosity and opening up science for everyone.
