The Royal Academy of Arts has been championing art and artists since its foundation in 1768. It has an unrivalled reputation as a venue for exhibitions of international importance, most recently including Tracey Emin / Edvard Munch: The Loneliness of the Soul, Antony Gormley, Picasso and Paper and the annual Summer Exhibition – the world’s largest and longest-running open submission show.
In 2018, the Royal Academy unveiled an expanded campus with more space to make, debate and exhibit art than ever before. Visitors can see treasures from their historic Collection for free, as well work by leading artists, architects, and art students.
The RA is run by artists and funded by art lovers. As an independent charity, it does not receive revenue funding from the government and is reliant upon the support of its visitors, donors, sponsors, patrons, and loyal Friends.
