The story of Christmas has very contemporary themes this year: a young family fleeing danger from a tyrannical political situation, a baby born in an outhouse in an animal feeding trough, and the vast majority of ordinary people going about their work not noticing.   The refugee crisis has strong resonances even two thousand years later.  Of course it’s a busy time and, for many, the survival of their business depends on the income generated in a couple of months at the end of the year.  As the churches fill up with people coming to sing carols, we wish all our neighbours and friends in Mayfair and St. James’s a blessed and peaceful Christmas.
