Pride in London – 1st July – Event Information

The parade route for Pride changed in 2022 and now uses Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus, and Haymarket before finishing on Whitehall.

Whilst the Pride Parade is taking place, unfortunately it will not be possible for vehicles to enter or exit the St James’s Area located south of Piccadilly and west of Haymarket. While the roads will close for the parade earlier in the day, it will be possible for residents in vehicles to cross Piccadilly heading north up until 11:30am on 1st July, before the parade starts. Once the parade has started however this will not be possible until the parade is clear at approximately 18:00.

Pride in London – Saturday 1st July 2023

Pride in London will be taking place on Saturday 1 July 2023. It is organised by a Community Interest Company and is run by volunteers. For this year’s event we are working again with the Pride in London Board who established themselves with Pride in London’s return after the pandemic in 2022. We are also working with the event producers Underbelly who have successfully delivered the event in the past, including 2022.

The event includes a large scale parade, stage performances at Trafalgar Square, Golden Square, Dean Street and Soho Square, as well as Soho generally being animated by many hospitality venues celebrating Pride. The parade route will be as in 2022; form up starting on Park Lane. The parade will then turn onto and travel along Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus, Haymarket, Cockspur Street and finish on Whitehall and Whitehall Place.

We recognise there is will be impact to the local area as this is a very popular and well-attended event, as well as from the associated road closures and suspensions, which is why I’ve reached out personally to ensure you are getting the support you need.

Road Closures

A detailed road closure map is available online

As a summary, the parade route will be closed to traffic from 10:00, with Park Lane closing at 08:00. It will not be possible to cross the parade route in a vehicle when the parade is taking place. The parade roads will reopen in a phased way and should have reopened by 22:30.

The area of Soho north of Shaftesbury Avenue, west of Charing Cross Road, east of Regent Street and south of Oxford Street, will be closed to traffic from 11:00 until 04:00am the following morning. Access for deliveries will be possible until 11:00. However please note a few exceptions in Soho that have earlier closure times:

  • Roads around Golden Square and Soho Square will be closed from 06:00am
  • Dean Street between Shaftesbury Avenue and Old Compton Street will also be closed from 06:00am
  • Archer Street between Great Windmill Street and Rupert street will be closed from 09:00
  • All Soho roads to be reopened at 04:00am (Sunday 2 Jul)

If you have any deliveries or waste collections within these road closure times, please make arrangements for these to be made either before 11:00, or the previous/following day.

Impact to Parking

Zone G Permit holders will be able to park in Resident Parking Bays in E (Mayfair) & F (north of Oxford Street) zones during the event parking suspensions. This will be from 18:30 on Friday 30th June 2023 to 08:30 on Monday 3rd July 2023.
