Speaker: James Sproule
James Sproule is Chief Economist at Handelsbanken UK, where he advises clients on the economic landscape and plays a key role in the bank’s risk management strategy. With decades of experience spanning finance, government and economic policy, he offers a unique perspective on the forces shaping business and the global economy.
In 2019, James served as Senior Business Adviser to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, following senior leadership roles including Chief Economist and Director of Policy at the Institute of Directors. Earlier in his career, he worked in investment banking, co-founded boutique bank Augusta & Company, and held strategic consultancy positions with Accenture and L.E.K. Consulting.
Before entering the world of economics, James served as a Signals Officer in the Royal Navy, later achieving the honorary rank of Captain. He has also been a Visiting Fellow in Management Economics at the London School of Economics.
